First Day FAQs

Starting somewhere new can bring plenty of questions. Here are a few helpful answers to make your family’s first day feel easier.

What should my child bring on the first day?

Bring a labeled backpack, water bottle, extra clothes, rest-time items, weather-ready gear, and any classroom-specific supplies. The backpack should be large enough to fit a standard folder.

What should my child wear?

Choose comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing that can handle movement, outdoor play, art, and messy learning. Closed-toe shoes are required.

What should I do at drop-off?

Keep your goodbye short, calm, and reassuring. Let your child know you love them, remind them you will return, and allow their educator to guide them into the classroom.

What if my child cries when I leave?

Tears are a normal part of adjusting to a new routine. Our educators will offer comfort, help your child join an activity, and give them time to settle in.

How will I receive updates?

VidaLife uses Brightwheel to share important updates, reminders, and messages. Make sure your account is set up before the first day.

Are meals and snacks provided?

VidaLife provides a healthy morning and afternoon snack. Families may pack a labeled lunch with an ice pack or purchase a school-provided lunch.

What should my child bring for rest time?

Bring the labeled bedding requested for your child’s classroom. Infants use an approved mini crib sheet and sleep sack, while older children may need a cot sheet and small blanket.

What if my child needs medication?

Contact the VidaLife team before the first day to complete the required forms and review medication procedures. Medication should never be left inside your child’s backpack.

Who can pick up my child?

Only adults listed as authorized pickup contacts may pick up your child. A photo ID may be requested, especially during the first few days.

How long will it take my child to adjust?

Every child is different. Some children settle in quickly, while others need several days or weeks. A consistent routine and partnership with their educators can make the transition easier.
